AGE GROUP: 8 & 9 years old
PARK LOCATION: Pic Leeson Park (ACCESS FROM END OF BLOOMFIELD AVE!) & John Dempsey 2
GAME NIGHT: Participating in Niagara Interlock Loop
1 game per week: Monday/Wednesday at 6pm would be our Home nights.
Away games could be on other days as they are determined by their Associations.
*Schedules are determined after registration closes
PRACTICE NIGHT: 1 practice per week. Team coaches will determine days and times which will be the same every week.
2024 REGISTRATION COST: Early Bird - $235, Regular - $260
DESCRIPTION: For Rookie baseball, SCMBA will use the Fundamentals provided by Baseball Canada for development purposes. Players will improve on the green cap skills and work towards the blue cap skills. Coaches and players should use the drills provided by the Rally Cap program as well as other drills for the appropriate age. SCMBA has fair play rules that all Coaches will be informed of before the season starts. Regular baseball rules are applied by umpires. Pitching machine is used. Teams will consist of 11-13 players. Players are developing towards:
Fielding - basic knowledge of fielding positions, catch 12/15 fly balls from 20 feet away, field 5/5 ground balls from 15 feet away (left and right side), throw a ball 50 feet, hit a target from 20 feet away
Hitting - hit 7/10 balls off a tee, hit 4/10 balls from a machine, hit 12/15 balls 75 feet, able to run to second and slide
Game knowledge - error or hit, single, double, triple, home run, safe or out

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
- Gloves/mitts are required.
- Batting helmets (with a face mask) are required.
- Belt for team pants
- Players must provide their own gray pants (no shorts allowed)
- Athletic supports are required.
- Uniforms (jersey & hats) are provided
- SCMBA provides back catching gear.
